X Factor US

Simon Cowell is bringing X Factor to America possibly as soon as 2011. His contract on Idol is up in May 2010 and the rumor is he will not renew his contract so that he can focus on X Factor (US). It's also believed that AI will end after this season. I love the UK version in my opinion it's much better than American Idol has been the past few years. Hopefully they will get some better judges - I've never really liked any of the American Idol judges other than Simon. Thoughts?

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

If they can separate it enough from Idol that the general public doesn't think they're interchangeable, it could work, but only if Idol goes off air. Otherwise they're going to clash and neither will prosper like they could.

Best case scenario for X Factor is if Fox picks it up. If they do, I can see it putting Idol to bed.

X-Factor is the better show anyway.

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

Thank God X Factor will be in the US....American Idol is just straight up karaoke.

But X Factor, is were true performers can shine.

It is the better show, but that's because the judges act like they actually care about the contestants.

I'd be interested if Simon was able to rope in some big names for the X-Factor in the States.

I seriously doubt Idol is about to leave the air though, and they'll pay Simon a billion dollars if that's what they have to do to get him to stay.

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

i'd actually like the idea of an American X Factor... most people wouldn't even notice much difference in the format so it could work.

but I really do not want Cheryl being a judge like the rumors say :/

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

Cheryl could be a judge. Simon really adores her so he'll try to make it happen.

Cheryl is dull and talentless though.

Then Girls Aloud would finally be well known in the US!!

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

Girls Aloud could get a spot on primetime American television. Cheryl is a genius.

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

Wasn't there an article about US network execs saying that Cheryl's accent would be a major problem?

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

I do think American Idol has gone on for too long, but it would be nice for them to end on series 10, I believe if the season coming now is the last one it would be 9?

I want Pop Idol back in the UK though!

She's not dull at all in my view. She's full of personality. And she's a great popstar even if the songs she sings on her solo album are mainly shit. Well, nearly entirely, but that's not the point. She's stunning, Simon loves her and Girls Aloud are the greatest girl group in the world. This could give them the platform to at least get their amazing pop music across to a country that wouldn't 'get them' any other way.

I don't want them duetting with Sean Kinston!

Really? I think people would love her accent (considering we Americans love anyone with a nice accent.)

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

I think the accent would be a problem but the sheer lust that Cheryl inspires in men would bypass that problem.

It was NBC scouts that sat in at one of the live auditions this year. They loved her, but they thought her accent would mean Americans couldn't really understand her.

I'll try and dig up the article.

Re: American Idol / X Factor US

Cheryl is just a glorified chavette with no real opinions other than looking nervously over at Simon to see if he approves - so maybe she is a perfect fit then.
