Really enjoyed the first couple of episodes. It had the same mix of creepiness, mystery and fun the first season did. Inclined to believe the second season was just a blip.
Can... I just skip season 2 and go to season 3? I know... Juliette Lewis is no more, but like... can anyone give me a CliffsNote version of the season? I couldn't get past the first episode of season 2 - it felt cheap.
While I'm liking the pick up in season 3 so far I'm having a hard time with
where they suddenly got the fabric for tents, candles, a shotgun etc etc after the cabin burnt down. It's like they robbed an outdoor retail store in between seasons

it was the incredibly well crafted Chinese lanterns for me but then I saw in a behind the scenes thing they were made from school textbook pages but still…but also agree that we shouldn’t maybe trust what we’re seeing either
I echo the sentiment that Season 3 is a big improvement on last season so far, the pace feels a bit quicker whereas last season was very meandering. I still feel like the tone is sometimes confused between taking itself seriously and not taking itself seriously enough (ie the talking llama in the last episode) - but at least overall the humor is landing more for me. I need them to kill the Walter story or actually do something interesting with it though, adult Misty is a fun character being dragged down by his presence.
I know Jackie's death is obviously one of the most important plot points in the show, but I still miss Ella Purnell's presence and wish we had more time with her on the show. I'm glad they are still finding ways to bring her back for guest appearances though.
In episode 1 Tai jokes she “impeached herself” and then she has a short phone call with her wife who says Sammy doesn’t want to speak to her and hangs up.

Another great episode and yes she is. Why is she so hellbent on destroying (killing?) coach? Does she truly believe he tried to kill them or is it a power play? I fucking hated her this episode and she's been pretty awful the whole series tbh. Leave hot gay coach alone!
Another Jackie appearance! God I missed Ella Purnell. Thank God for Fallout.
Great episode this week. Up there with the first season almost. Other than the overegged dream sequence last week they've done a much better job with the wilderness flashbacks so far this time around. The trial scenes were superb.
I have to wonder how on earth last series was such a mess, seeing how they've done a pretty solid course correction thus far. I mean I guess it's another classic case of 'Excellent concept that isn't fully mapped out even as season 1 is filmed and completed', but the way they missed the tone (the dragged out storyline around Shauna's daughter, Walter and Misty's qUiRkY adventures) and balancing of the two timelines last season is so clear compared to this season and the first. Not to mention the pacing. We had a full episode of the trial this week, whereas it felt like they became savage cannibalistic hunters within 5 minutes randomly in one of the episodes last season.
That said I do think the show's present tense storylines are still not quite as strong as they need to be. The thrill of season one was watching the few survivors of the whole ordeal be dragged together and seeing their collective survival instinct kick in once again when it needed to. Tai and Van's storyline so far is dull and superfluous. Introducing Lottie as an adult has added absolutely nothing the entire time other than stretching credulity. They need to do a better job of tying the adult Yellowjackets' storylines together. Or at least just have them meet up regularly.
The other fundamental flaw of the show is awkwardly introducing random characters in the wilderness who are brand new to viewers but we have to believe were there full time. It wouldn't even bother me as much if we didn't then suddenly find out 'Oh they're still alive too'. The first season really made it seem like it was a limited group that survived, and I feel like scenes such as Tai, Misty, Shauna and Natalie storming the high school reunion are cheapened when you realise repeatedly after the fact that actually there's a whole Yellowjacket beehive buzzing around in the present.
I fear Shauna is being terrorised by the adult version of the blonde girl with the baseball cap (presumably Hilary Swank's role?).
I can’t believe they killed Lottie! I don’t think they did enough with her in the present. Why establish this relationship with Callie only to sack her off screen? The show places Shauna in NYC the time of Lottie’s death, and Tai is unaccounted for too.
Anyway, thinking about the nightmares from the previous episode… was the fire Van’s fault?
