Instant Repeater 99
Average: 8.37

High scores: 11 x 2 (@Charley, @danmharrow); 10 x 3 (@Reboot, @Remorque, @Robsolete)
Low scores: 6 x 1 (@DJHazey)

Chart positions: N/A

Did I deliberately drag this out to annoy @DJHazey? Of course not, I'm just incompotent.

So as you all expected, this is a Så mycket bättre cover of a band called The Soundtrack Of Our Lives:

2013's smb included Ebbot Lundberg, who is the lead singer of Soundtrack of blah blah. You probably guessed that, but did you also guess that 2019's Så mycket bättre will start on the 19th of October? Either way, now you know. Ebbot decided to perform 'Release Me', but we'll expose you to that later, seeing as that song is still in.

The band's biggest hit was 2004's 'Bigtime'

#1 on Sverigetopplistan and the parent album 'Origin No.1' got to #1 as well.
Let's just agree that they're not exactly what we love on this forum and move on?

Yes, let's move on to our contractually obligated Melodifestivalen reference:

This was an interval act in 2012, the song originally performed by Dilba in the previous year's competition.

Yes, even with that live performance, we can agree that the original is better.

But wait! Remember I promised you an appearance on the soundtrack of a crappy film? Yes, it's this song. It was used in an American film titled 'Spun' Which is about drugs, and is just derivative trash.

@WowWowWowWow did some digging and found another fan of Agnes' version. Yes, It's our old friend Anna from Expressen. She said that 'Soon no one will remember that this overpowering disco of a song once belonged to a rock band.'

@DJHazey sets out the case for the prosecution:
"Definitely a case of “the chorus snaps its finger to wake someone up” but still, it doesn’t exactly light my world on fire either." - 6.0
@abael is in the 'unimpressed' group:
"Doesn’t seem particularly memorable. Some sort of half-ballad." - 7.0
@berserkboi references my favourite Michael Jackson album (because it's the only one I own) for some reason:
"I feel Bad listening to these right after Veritas, as these extras just don’t measure up so far." - 6.9
@iheartpoptarts gets to be our 'pleasantly surprised' correspondent today:
"Surprisingly really good for what it is. I never would’ve guessed she was covering some random rock song." - 8.0
@Sprockrooster talks about production, which we all know that I know nothing about:
'Ryan Tedder-buildup are always adored by me, whether it is a complete steal sonically.' - 9.0
@danmharrow has found a new favourite:
'Every now and then I get an urge to listen to this song, or the lyrics get stuck in my head. Brings something new to such a weird original. I will keep on coming back to this for eternity.' - 11.0

I gave this a 10 for her performance only. The girl is living throughout and I love it for that. I wasn't impressed by the original, but Agnes definitely bettered it.

About. Damn. Time. -- Amazing got the same score from so that's the only song I really would like to see go at this point.

OK.

Agnes joined up with Ken Ring for a special version of “Amazing” on duets night of “Så mycket bättre”:

Um.

For me, personally, this is nothing like Seal’s “Amazing,” George Michael’s “Amazing,” Madonna’s “Amazing” and it’s definitely not Inna’s “Amazing.”

@DJHazey may be our lowest scorer, but there were plenty of 7 scorers, so you’re not really alone.
“Thank goodness the rest of the album is largely incredible...meh. I’ll get eviscerated for this I know, but come on it’s not even comparable.” - 6.0

As co-captain of Team 7, @abael introduces one of my favorite words into the proceedings:
“Glad to hear improvements in production, but the song itself is too banal to live up to it.” - 7.0

@Verandi joins the T-7 proceedings:
“I understand why it’s the opener, but it’s a bit of a mess compared to the other tracks here.” - 7.0

And @iheartpoptarts has questions.
“Is the ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’ sounding bit deliberate? Who knows.” - 7.0

Not really sure, but you weren’t alone in noticing it!
@danmharrow: “Setting you up for a Do Ya Think I’m Sexy cover, then delivering something, well, pretty good.” - 7.5

Continuing our rise up the scoreboard, it’s @Remorque:
“Perfect introduction to Veritas. She sounds amazing and the production’s fantastic, yet there’s definitely something missing chorus-wise here.” - 8.5

To wrap up this cut, we have twinning from @berserkboi and @CasuallyCrazed:

@berserkboi:
“Literally amazing.” - 10

@CasuallyCrazed:
“The runner up for my 11. What kind of Zora’s domain Zelda soundtrack opening is that with the calming synths & dripping chorus of ethereal oo’s? Amazing. Literally amazing.” - 10

I guess there comes a point where every elimination is painful for someone.

But not for me, because I am cruel.

People have often compared me to brick walls, blocks of ice, solid steel, many things.

But no-one has ever said that I am

So There Goes An Eleven, as Kate Bush so nearly said before everyone realised she was a tory.

So here lies the oddball of Veritas. Is it okay to say that? To me it certainly stands out as something a little different compared to the rest of the album.

@scandipop said "This isn’t something we expected to hear on the new Agnes album, but by Christ, we’re glad it’s there!"

Some Random I found using a search engine said:
'Agnes is slightly over-autotuned, and it distracts from what could otherwise be a really good song.'

Anyway, here's a bad recording of a live performance:

@Verandi is one of our satisfied customers:
'The way she fucking SOARS in this good god she took my wig with her.' - 9.0

@abael Tries their best not to sound shady:
'The chorus is a bit lightweight, but otherwise a great track.' - 8.0

@iheartpoptarts May start converting people soon:
'I feel like this is the kind of Agnes song people around here would appreciate even if they’re not into Eurobops.' - 9.0

@berserkboi Doesn't seem a massive fan of the song itself:
'In lesser hands, this would be an 8 *but* that voice and production!' - 9.8

@danmharrow thinks that we have been manipulating the song list and adding imposters:
"This doesn’t sound like an Agnes song. I find it hard to rate" - 4.0

@Sprockrooster hasn't been in a church for years:
My atheistic ass can’t relate. - 4.0

@DJHazey gets the last word (well, words) though:
"It was this song, along with “All I Want Is You” that got me interested in this album and consequently her as an artist so it it’s special in that regard. Someone would ask what Veritas was all about and I would immediately say those two -- that kind of thing. Seriously though, what planet is she delivering that otherworldly chorus from? Her voice is powerful enough to send it from anywhere and have the message time-stamped in every listener’s soul forever." - 10.0

Will I ever do that writeup for Stronger? I should hope so.

Let’s give Veritas a breather, shall we?

We shall.

Limelight
Average: 8.504

High scores: 10 x 5 (@Ana Raquel, @CasuallyCrazed, @DJHazey, @Remorque, @Txetxu)
Low scores: 6 x 3 (@abael, @əʊæ, @iheartpoptarts)

“Limelight” steals the limelight as we head toward the top 10, leaving “I Trance” as the top Extra and outscoring “Like God” by 0.004 points.

Agnes wrote on Facebook about her two new songs, released just in time for our rate (@Empty Shoebox ha power!):

“The first two songs to come I dedicate to the dance. It’s all about being in the moment, how sexy and pleasurable it is when you’re able to completely let go. ⁣I am so humble and happy for all the support. My heart grows triple it’s size in my chest.”

No crying at the discotheque for @berserkboi!
“Disco-tinged yet modern – stannable!” - 9.9

Well, I’m not sure I can call @iheartpoptarts comments ‘support,’ but it’s something!
“Kind of underwhelming but I’ll deal.” - 6.0

@abael found calling Pimsleur!
“Well produced, but the song is just existing to highlight Agnes’ lack of improvement in English.” - 6.0

@DJHazey found his favorite extra:
“Clear and away the best song in this section and it’s not really as close as some scores may indicate. When Agnes first cried out “rhythm!” I was sold and I welcomed her back to well...the limelight. I would love a 2019 album with this headlining it both because of release and sound.” - 10

@danmharrow welcomed the return as well, but only to a degree.
“Bonus for bringing her back, it’s a good one but not groundbreaking.” - 7.0

By the way, for anyone paying less attention, this means the Extras era and the Agnes era each have one song left. Which era will run out first?

I can confirm that one of these eras will reach the top 10.
