Zoe Birkett and other shameful buys

I have something shocking, scandalous and some may even call it bone-chilling... I just bought Treat Me Like a Lady off I-Tunes. There is no excuse to buy a song 6 years after it came out by an artist I know, however in my defence (and it is a weak one) I keep hearing it at work when I have to call my systems service desk when something goes tits up... The playlist is as follows:

Atomic Kitten - The Last Goodbye
Zoe Birkett - Treat me Like a Lady
Daniel Bedingfield - If You're not the One
S Club - Alive

I'm often on hold for 20 minutes... you can imagine how these songs have invaded my life. (I also got caught singing it when the operator on the other side answered)

I felt the need to own up to this as soon as possible, and this brings me to ask anyone if they have ever done the same as me when they've heard an old song? If so, what song?

Im not as ashamed about it, but I kept hearing TLC - Dear Lie on the phone to aol at some point a while back and ended up buying Fanmail because it was on sale.

I recently bought Liz McClarnon's cover of Woman In Love (the dance remix, oh the shame....). Why?? I think i saw someone on Idol singing it and loved it, and then discovered an ex-Atomic Kitten version and there was no stopping me.

This reminds me of my closest brush with pop fame: I once met a girl named Zoe Birkett. Not the same one (she was a teacher not a singer), but she had the hotmail address. As a result she got a ton of freaky mail while the pop Zoe Birkett was famous.

HOW did they fuck it up with Zoe Birkett? She got a million votes in the week she got voted off. She should have been enormous.

"Alive" isn't shameful. OK, it was the lowest charting S Club single after Natural, and perhaps did pale a bit in comparison to Don't Stop Movin', but it still had it's charms. I heard, I don't know if it's true, that Paul was actually supposed to sing lead on it but then he obviously left?

One shameful buy of mine was probably Upper Street's The One, which I got from iTunes cos' I quite liked the song. Then I saw the video (and Totally Boyband) and instantly regretted my purchase. I'm sure Bradley regrets ever taking part in it. Danny from NKOTB on the other hand...

So you're the other person that bought the Upper Street song, i too thought it was really good and had it on my 'gym' playlist for ages! I've never seen the video though.

Another shameful buy was Rosie Ribbons, not only her first cd single but her second one too, but again i really liked them and actually still do.
